eBook Dynasty introduces "Snail Mail" Literary Newsletter
How long has it been since you found a letter in your mailbox? A genuine letter, addressed to you and created for you, about themes and things in which you are truely interested, written by a person as real and authentic as you are a distinct individual, instead of a bothersome bill or some random, annoying advertisement?
In this day and age, it can feel like our world is increasingly operated and communicated through promotional web pages, social media "follows" and "likes", and text messages between mobile phones. Curiously, it is when our life reaches its peak in speed and efficiency that we long for rest and relaxation, craving something that is slow but steady, imperfect but sincere, raw but honest, plain but true.
In other words, it is when we are surrounded by machines big and small that we desire human companionship. A friend. A scribbled note. A tender hello. Someone who pays attention. Someone who listens. Someone who cares.
It may explain why snail mail clubs are now popular across the world. These are run by individual creatives who are happy spending time writing, drawing, sending, receiving and reading letters that document their thoughts and feelings. They are keen to share their works of art -- and the wonderful snippets of their lives -- with strangers across cultural and geographical borders. Rather than rushing alongside and even ahead of the others, they want to slow down and smell the flowers. To them, it is not a life but mere existence if you are not actually living and enjoying it.
We see it as a renaissance of print, where people put aside their computers and phones and turn to paper instead. Whether it is a letter or a zine, whether it is hand-written or drawn, typed, printed or copied, the carrier remains paper, something that we can touch, display, keep, revisit and share (and, yes, recycle). Something that we can hold in our hands. Something that is real.
To contribute to this renaissance, starting August 2026, eBook Dynasty is collaborating with content creator Passion for Prose (P4P) to launch our monthly "Snail Mail" Literary Newsletter. The content of this small publication will include topics on writing and reading, reflections on digital and print publishing, news and discussions on literature and literacy, etc. These will be printed as an A5-sized zine made from two pieces of A4 paper.
Each issue of the "snail mail" literary newsletter will be posted to subscribers at the start of each month. The time it takes to reach subscribers will depend on their country's or region's postal delivery service. For subscription details, please visit our "e-Newsletter & 'Snail Mail' Literary Newsletter" page.
